Kayla Istines's Bikini Body Guide Phenomenon 

Kayla Istines, Australian born personal trainer, and her Bikini Body Guide (BBG) have recently become so extensively used and talked about that they can be considered a global phenomenon. Just a few months ago I could not have told you who Kayla Istines was or what her BBG was all about. However, now it seems like everywhere I turn someone is talking about her and her “miracle” guides.

Her “Bikini Body Guide” is a 12 week workout guide developed for women, ages 16-40 that includes various styles of exercise ranging from body weight, high resistance, plyometric, LISS (low intensity steady state) and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).

It seems like most health trends these days are comprised of exclusionary diets (aka “gluten free” or “dairy free”) or ridiculous amounts of cardio. However Kayla’s BBG advocates for a “balanced, healthy lifestyle based on clinically proven science” and incorporates personal success stories from herself and her clients.

 

 

 

How it all began

Kayla started out as a personal trainer for a workout facility that focused specifically on women’s fitness. However, she soon realized that the fitness methods she was instructed to teach were falling short of the results her clients were looking to achieve. She noticed a pattern of her clients desiring toned arms and inner thighs, or a flatter stomach (but who doesn’t). As she began research on her own, she developed a set of exercises that targeted the specific areas her clients were frequently unhappy with.

Shortly after, Kayla left the workout facility and started her own company with the goal of helping women everywhere achieve their ideal bikini body – hence the name “Bikini Body Guide”

 

Creation of a phenomenon

What made Kayla’s BBG so utterly successful?

The initial success came from the fact that this guide has the ability to produces astonishing results (if you are willing to put the effort in). When someone or something is successful, their success tends to speak for itself through physical results then word-of-mouth. Her clients saw amazing results in 12 weeks and began to tell their friends.

After seeing her guides becoming successful, she decided to build a presence on Instagram and Facebook, in order to share her training and nutrition methods. Kayla urges guide users to take a photo of themselves every four weeks in sports bras and shorts. At first these photos are for the individual’s purpose so that they can track their progress. However, in the end people are genuinely so proud of their accomplishments that they post their transformation photos to Instagram where Kayla herself reposts it to her account and congratulates them on their success.

Kayla’s Instagram account is full of transformations success stories from clients from around the world. In the short time since publishing her BBG, Kayla has reached an Instagram public of 2.2 million followers and this number is only increasing.
